Good Product, Bad Packaging
We see a lot of products being advertised really well, and maybe the product really is as great as they say, but sometimes, poor packaging can really hinder the effectiveness of the overall product. This in turn, can make buyers rethink their decision to repurchase because using the last remaining amounts of the product is inconvenient and nearly impossible.
Here are reviews on the packaging of 2 products I use daily. While I love both products, their packaging is a real nuisance. The first one, I'll probably continue to buy because the formula is wonderful, but the second product's packaging was so bad that I'll probably switch to a different brand.
Dove Go Fresh Body Wash in Nectarine & White Ginger

This body was smells absolutely amazing! It's perfect for the summer with its sweet fresh nectarine scent and it's great for waking me up in the morning before heading off to my summer classes. The design on the bottle is simple and pretty, showing a nectarine and flower with water droplets.
It's an awesome product in a fairly large bottle, which is good, but with me being a college girl who would rather spend my money on clothes and the more essential items like rent, I'd like to squeeze out every last drop of this delicious body wash in the current bottle before I have to run out and purchase a new one. Usually I would just turn shampoo and body wash bottles upside down to makes sure all the product runs down to the opening.
Unfortunately, the top is curved almost to a point which makes it pretty hard to keep the bottle turned straight upside-down on the shower caddy or against the wall on the bathroom nook. I have to surround it with all the other smaller bottles of shampoo and body washes just for it to not slide and fall down. When I have to use any of those other products, the Dove bottle will fall down anyway because it's just so hard to balance on the curved tip and then I have to take the time to set everything back in place. I could just hold the bottle upside down and wait for it to all drip down to opening but even that takes time. This is really a hassle when I'm in a rush to get somewhere.
By the weight, I would guess that about half a cup's worth of body wash is still in the bottom of the bottle. That's enough for about 3 showers!
I already love this body wash, the smell, color, design, everything except the bottle. If only it had a flat pop-top to make it easier to turn upside down, then it would be perfect! Dove, please change your packaging ways!
Stay Don't Stray Eye Primer by Benefit

This was my first eye primer which you pat with your finger onto your eyelid and undereyes to make it easier for concealers eyeshadows to show up more vibrant and be able to last longer. The product works is decent at best. The packaging, not so much.
You only need a very small sized drop, about half a pea, to cover both eyelids and the faulty pump on the tube distributes way too much product at a time. I've tried pressing down with less pressure, both slower and quicker on the pump but you really just can't control how much comes out. The formula gets all over the opening, which means wasted product and therefore wasted money which is sad considering that this was fairly expensive. It's just a messy ordeal in a lot of ways. Just the packaging can make or break people's decision to repurchase the product. It certainly has for me.
